An Adventure in Artistic Expression and Self Exploration... Drawing the Inside Out is a 5-hr expressive art making workshop where participants are invited to connect to deeper layers of their personal journey and self through large scale painting. Each session focuses on both and artistic and an existential/spiritual theme. Participants engage in short drawing exercises focused on the elements (line, texture etc) or principles (harmony, contrast, movement, etc) of art and design, view a short series of artworks that further our theme, and engage in large scale painting.

The body is a container for our state of being. We’ll take turns tracing the outline of our bodies in a gesture or pose on 7ft paper, then begin to paint. Within this context, a dialogue or dance between the participant and the full scale image, color, shape and texture, takes place.

Today I attended my first workshop at the Middletown Art Center. It was titled; Drawing the Inside Out.  We painted life-size paintings of ourselves through our own interpretations. The instructor is empowering, extremely knowledgeable, and entertaining. instructor.

If you have never experienced one of these classes, you're missing out. The MAC is truly an amazing part of our community and offers so many different opportunities to not only learn about art, yourself and also how to express what you didn't know you were holding inside.
